AUGUST 2019

Dear Friends

We hope you have all enjoyed the summer break despite the unpredictable weather!

Our 2018-2019 Programme ended with the Spring Tea and AGM in May 2019 and we are pleased to confirm that as the Committee successfully managed to run the events throughout the year without any hitches despite the absence of a President, we are happy to continue.

The highlight of the year was Burns Night with the highest attendance and a mix of old and new faces but even though the other events had lower numbers, we still usually managed to get up enough dancers to make up a couple of sets for most of the dances and we thank you all for your support in helping to clear away at the end of the evenings, for volunteering to entertain us on Lassies Night, etc.

NEXT EVENTS:

The first event on our Programme for 2019-2020 is the Autumn Dance on Saturday, 5 October 2019.  We hope to see as many of you as possible on that night and your committee member will be contacting you shortly to confirm whether you are able to attend.  I can confirm the dates/venues for the 2019-2020 Programme are as follows:

MEMBER UPDATE:

Sadly, Audrey Allen, who was a member for a long time, passed away on 9 June 2019.

Our friends at Kettering Caledonian Society are having a Lunch on 14 October 2019 at which there will be a talk by Keith Bruce, the author of Bridgescape which covers Scottish history and geography as we explore Scotland's bridge building heritage. It's intended to inform but also to entertain!  If you are interested in attending, the venue is The Eden Centre, Montague St, Kettering. Car parking is in School Lane (there is a walkway top right hand side of car park which brings you out opposite the Eden Centre).  A light lunch is provided, price £7.50, notification if attending by 9 October 2019 at the latest to Alex Elmore on 07531615522 or alexmar26@talktalk.net Payment is taken on the day. Further information can be found on their web-site which is www.ketteringcaledonians.co.uk

We are looking forward to our 2019-2020 Season and hope to see as many of you (and your guests) as possible at our events.

Best wishes from the Committee
